Hedges & Ferns: Garden Game

Laser cut plexi, 3d prints, and painted steel

12” x 12” x 11”

Two players split all the game pieces and take turns places a hedge or a fern. The challenge of the game is to place all your pieces onto the board before you run out of space. You can chose to outwit your opponent or work together so you both win. I was inspired by English gardens and their methodical approach to landscaping; perfectly sculpted topiaries, white stone pathways and the labyrinth-like arrangements. I emulated their methodical style and applied it even farther. I separated plants into shape and form and even divided green into its primary colors, orange and blue. The pieces then fit into square holes on the board so no matter how the garden is arranged, there is always a sense of order and precision.
